Appearance

Botao de ouro is a tiny frog, measuring only up to 20 mm, with a short, rounded body shape and smooth, skin. They lack webbing on their feet and are known for their striking bright yellow to orange coloration. These frogs have a prominent, rounded snout. There are no noticeable differences in appearance between age groups and genders, making it difficult for one to distinguish between them.

Behavior

Botao de ouro is a solitary, diurnal species with a sedentary lifestyle, usually foraging within a small range. These frogs exhibit cryptic behavior, concealing themselves under leaf litter and in mossy habitats to avoid predation. They are territorial, favoring specific crevices and rocks for dwelling.
