Lifespan
 12-20 years
   Diet
Yarará lancehead primarily feeds on small vertebrates, most notably mammals such as rodents. This carnivorous reptile also selectively includes birds, frogs, and lizards in its dietary palate, preferring ambush hunting to catch prey.
   Appearance
Yarará lancehead is a medium-sized pit viper known for its diverse coloration, ranging from brown to green, often covered in dark, irregular blotches. It has a triangular head with a unique V-shape on its forehead and a slim, elongated body covered in keeled scales. The snake bears hollow fangs to inject venom, and exhibits sexual dimorphism; females are larger and lighter, males are smaller and darker.
   Behavior
Yarará lancehead is a primarily nocturnal creature, often hunting small mammals and birds during twilight hours. It employs an ambush predation strategy, relying heavily on camouflage within its natural rainforest habitat. Although primarily solitary, male yarará lancehead occasionally engage in fierce 'combat dances' when competing for mates. This territorial species prefers not to interact, fleeing rather than defending its space when threatened.
