Blaesodactylus boivini is a species of gecko, a lizard in the family Gekkonidae. The species is endemic to Madagascar.

Madagascar velvet gecko sustains primarily on a diet of insects. This gecko species is an insectivore, preferring a variety of arthropods including crickets, spiders and beetles. It is known to actively hunt under the cover of darkness, capitalizing on its nocturnal advantage.
Appearance
Madagascar velvet gecko is a relatively small gecko with a streamlined, elongated body covered in clear to opaque, finely granulated scales. Its coloration is predominantly lots of gray, incised with irregular dark banding across the body and tail. Males are characterized by a greater number of preanal pores than females. Notably, it carries a flat tail which is often wavy at the edges, providing a leaf-like illusion that is key to its distinct appearance.
Behavior
Madagascar velvet gecko are nocturnal and arboreal, using specialized toe pads to climb vertical surfaces. They exhibit exceptional hunting skills, catching small invertebrates using an ambush strategy. Madagascar velvet gecko is highly territorial with limited social interaction, and has also been observed performing body-waving movements, potentially as a communication method or threat display in response to encroaching conspecifics.
