Diet
Primarily herbivores, brown basilisk consume a diverse range of plant matter, including leaves, flowers, and fruits. Its penchant for occasional invertebrates, mainly arthropods and snails, exhibits its flexible diet.
Appearance
Brown basilisk is a medium-sized lizard characterized by its slender, elongated body and impressively long tail. It boasts vibrant, smooth scales with a predominant green-brown coloration, often bearing lateral yellow stripes. Notably, males sport a large, sail-like crest on their backs and tails. No significant differences due to age or gender exist, aside from the males' distinctive crests.
Behavior
Brown basilisk is an arboreal reptile, located mostly in trees and rarely seen on the ground. It displays exceptional agility, often leaping from tree to tree. Notably, brown basilisk is a solitary creature, typically meeting only for mating. Males display territorial behavior, defending their territory by bobbing their head, inflating their body, and showing off their dorsal crest. Brown basilisk feeds primarily on insects and fruits.
