   General Info
Lifespan
 6-10 years
   Diet
Barbary ground squirrel primarily feeds on plant materials, including herbs, grasses, and seeds. It also exhibits opportunistic habits, consuming insects, small vertebrates, and even carrion, according to seasonal availability.
   Appearance
Barbary ground squirrel is a medium-sized rodent with a cylindrical body and sleek fur. Its coat is predominantly yellow-grey with dark patches, becoming whiter around the belly and chin areas. The animal has a large bushy tail, a pointed snout, and sizable, erect ears. There are no significant physical differences between genders or due to age within this species.
   Behavior
Barbary ground squirrel typically lives in colonies, making burrows in sandy or loose soil, often under stones. This diurnal species is agile and quick, foraging during the day for fruit, roots, seeds, and occasionally, small animals. Notably, it uses its tail to balance when running at high speeds. Territorial disputes are common, primarily solved through threat displays rather than physical combat.
