 20-30 years
   Diet
Woma python predominantly consumes small to medium-sized mammals. This snake is a specialist feeder with a preference for prey such as rodents, birds, and bettongs. Its nocturnal hunting nature allows successful predation even in arid habitats.
   Appearance
Woma python is a medium-sized snake with smooth, glossy scales. It has a robust, cylindrical body that can reach up to two meters in length. The colour of its skin varies from yellowish to reddish-brown or black, sometimes presenting darker irregular blotches. Its head is broad and distinctly rounded unlike the usual triangular shape seen in most pythons. There are no notable variations due to age, gender or subspecies.
   Behavior
Woma python are largely sedentary, solitary animals with territory-marking behaviors involving chemical cues. Exceptionally nocturnal, they exhibit ambush predation, hiding in burrows or under sand to surprise their prey. Their distinctive heat-sensing pits enable them to locate and seize prey in darkness—adaptations for their arid habitat.
