Diet
Blunthead slug snake is a specialized dietary consumer, feeding primarily on mollusks, such as land snails and slugs. Its lanceolate teeth are evolutionarily adapted for efficient extraction of invertebrate prey from the shells.
Appearance
Blunthead slug snake is a slender, cylindrical snake of small to medium size with smooth, shiny scales. Its body is primarily a dark, rich chocolate brown, occasionally speckled with lighter spots. No significant differences occur due to age or gender in this species. A remarkable feature is its long, prehensile tail and head shaped nearly indistinguishable from the tail, used for arboreal navigation.
Behavior
Blunthead slug snake is a primarily arboreal, solitary species that spends most of its time in tree canopies. It hunts at night, actively foraging for prey in the surrounding foliage. While not aggressive, blunthead slug snake will fiercely defend its chosen space by coiling its body and showing off its bright underbelly as a warning to intruders.
