General Info

Lifespan
4-7 years
Diet
Barbados anole primarily subsists on a diet of arthropods, with a special predilection for insects like beetles and spiders. Seasonal availability may influence the dietary diversity of this exotic lizard species.
Appearance
Barbados anole is a small lizard measuring about 5-8cm in length. Its slender body is covered in scale-like skin which is usually a vibrant green, but can shift to brown or gray. It's recognizable by the elongated tail and large toe-pads. Males are often larger than females and possess a larger, fan-shaped dewlap - a skin flap on the throat, which is used for courtship and territorial displays.
Behavior
Barbados anole exhibits solitary, territorial behavior, typically occupying tree canopies and bushes. This species actively asserts its domain through head bobbing displays. It forages during the day, primarily hunting for arthropods. Adapted to its arboreal lifestyle, it shows remarkable climbing agility, utilising vertical body orientation and camouflage for optimal survival.
