Description

The large-headed anole (Anolis cybotes), sometimes called the largehead anole or the Hispaniolan stout anole, is a species of anole found throughout the Caribbean. It is often brownish in color with lighter stripes on the flanks.

Diet
Predominantly insectivorous, large-headed anole consumes various arthropods, such as spiders and beetles. Capture involves swift pouncing. Invertebrates supplementation provides essential nutrition.
Appearance
The large-headed anole is a medium-sized lizard with a slender body and smooth scales. It predominantly displays brown or gray coloration, often mimicking the bark of trees. Its toes are equipped with adhesive pads, enabling them to expertly navigate various terrains. Both genders share similar coloration, but males exhibit a noticeable inflated throat fan, or dewlap, which is less prominent in females.
Behavior
Large-headed anole displays a predominantly solitary nature, with distinct territorial behavior. Males defend and mark their territory through head bobbing and dewlap displaying, which also play a role in mating rituals.
