   Diet
Mantled howler primarily feeds on leaves, including young leaves, mature leaves, and leaf petioles. Their diet also includes fruits, flowers, and seeds, ensuring an assorted and balanced nutrition.
   Appearance
Mantled howler is a medium-sized primate covered in long, shaggy fur. Predominantly black or dark brown, individuals may have lighter fur around the face and neck. The prominent tail is prehensile and the characteristically wide jaw houses large molars for leaf consumption. Notably, adult males typically possess larger body size and pronounced throat sac as distinguishing characteristics.
   Behavior
Mantled howler is a diurnal, arboreal species, primarily maintaining a diet of leaves and fruit. It lives in mixed-sex groups displaying strong territorial behavior with vocalizations known as 'howls'. These serve to establish presence and deter rival groups. Typically non-aggressive, mantled howler tends to avoid conflict through retreat rather than physical engagement.
