Description
The brown howler monkey (Alouatta guariba, syn .: A. fusca) is a kind of primate from the kind of the howler monkeys within the Klammerschwanzaffen (Atelidae). He lives in eastern South America.

Appearance
Brown howler is a medium-sized primate with a sturdy body coated in dense fur. Often a vibrant reddish-orange or brown, it boasts an elongated muzzle and a tufted tail that often surpasses its body length. Males are usually larger and display expanded vocal sacs. A characteristic feature of the species is a distinct noise made using their peculiarly shaped hyoid bones.
Behavior
Brown howler is a diurnal species, foraging primarily in the early morning and late afternoon. Noted for its loud, haunting calls, it uses vocalization to defend it's territory and communicate within its social groups. It displays a preference for upper forest levels for foraging and resting, with a diet comprising mostly leaves, fruits, and flowers. Brown howler is a social animal, living in small groups with a dominant male.
